Overview

Agricultural production has been increasing almost consistently in India. This increase is essential to feed a growing population and to enable a remunerative income for the farmers. However, it has been observed often that untimely and intermittent rains especially during the peak season when crops are ready to be harvested have become a big concern. Such untimely rains increase the moisture content in grain which makes it further difficult for farmers to market it to procurement agencies. Enhanced moisture is a matter of concern not only for farmers but for buyers as well. On one hand, farmers are not able to receive a good price for their produce due to enhanced levels of moisture, on the other hand, buyers are unable to provide satisfactory produce to their customers. Against this background, FICCI is organising a focussed programme with relevant Industry stakeholders.
