(Date: June 7-9, 2023 )

The Organic Agricultural Society of India invites all the researchers, academicians, policy makers, line-department officers, research scholars, students, and farmers from across the country to the National Conference on ‘Natural & Organic Farming for Ecological, Economical & Nutritional Security’ being organized by the Department of Organic Agriculture and Natural Farming, CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur with effect from 7th to 9th June 2023. The conference will have keynote lectures, invited/lead papers, oral and poster presentations and exhibitions in physical mode.

Agriculture plays an important role in food and nutritional security besides enhancing economy of the country. The small and marginal farmers constituting the majority of peasantry are the key players in influencing agricultural growth. In present scenario, the farmers are sufferers of high input intensive agriculture leading to economic unviability. Intensive agro-chemical based agriculture has posed serious concerns of environmental pollution, health hazards, loss of biodiversity and threat to sustainability. Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has consistently underlined the importance of empowering the farmers by enhancing their income to make agriculture an attractive and sustainable enterprise. Reducing input costs for profit maximizing can be an option for the same. Natural Farming offers a viable alternative to achieve this aim. Natural/Organic farming is the most desired system to replace chemical based intensive agriculture. It helps in restoration of biodiversity and ecology with added health benefits. Natural Farming, as the name implies, is a method of farming where the cost of inputs for raising crops is minimum and farmers need not to purchase synthetic chemicals. The method suggests only use of locally available natural bio-degradable materials with traditional farming practices based on naturally occurring biological processes.

The recent initiatives at regional, national and international level on natural and organic farming have necessitated to organize various conferences, seminars and workshops to take stock of various developments in this sphere. Keeping in mind this necessity, the present conference is being organized to gather professionals working in the field of non-chemical farming (natural/organic/regenerative/rishi krishi.), scientists, research scholars, students from academic institutions/industries, NGOs, policy makers, officers and farmers and present their work related to natural and organic farming leading to ecological, economical and nutritional security. The recommendations of the conference will be helpful in addressing the issues related to natural/organic farming and will form the roadmap for policy making.
