Atmanirbhar Krishi App

  • Office of Principal Scientific Adviser Launches 'Atmanirbhar Krishi App'

  • The Office of Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government _,of India launched the Atmanirbhar Krishi app under the KisanMitr initiative . The app aims to equip farmers with actionable agricultural insights and provide early weather alerts.

  • About the app: The app collects Data related to soil type, soil health, moisture, weather, and water table and generates personalized insights related to crop selection, fertilizer requirements, and water needs for each farmer. It has been designed and built by the Tech Mahindra Makers Lab team, the Research Development arm of Tech Mahindra.

  • The app is provided free of cost to benefit farmers, start-ups, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), Self Help Groups (SHG), or Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO).

  • It is available in 12 languages and has been designed to work on minimal bandwidth due to connectivity issues in remote areas.

  • The app does not collect inputs from the farmer, it relies on geo-location of the farm for providing the relevant data.

India’s first Agri-Export Facilitation Centre launched in Pune

  • India’s first Agriculture Export Facilitation Centre (AFEC) is established at Pune, Maharashtra by Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) in association with the National Bank.

  • The centre was inaugurated by G.S. Rawat, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Pune regional office.

  • AFEC will work as a one stop centre for the potential agriculture & food products exporters from Maharashtra as well as boost agricultural exports from the region, as per global standards

KVIC’s Unique Project BOLD to Boost Tribals’ Income and Bamboo-based Economy in Rajasthan

  • · Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC)

  • · KVIC has judiciously chosen bamboo for developing green patches. Bamboos grow very fast and in about three years’ time, they could be harvested.Bamboos are also known for conserving water and reducing evaporation of water from the land surface, which is an important feature in arid and drought-prone regions.

  • · The project named “Bamboo Oasis on Lands in Drought” (BOLD) is the first of its kind exercise in India which was launched todayfrom the tribal village NichlaMandwa in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

App “Matsya Setu” for Fish Farmers

· Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Giriraj Singh, today launched the Online Course Mobile App “Matsya Setu”.

· The app was developed by the ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar, with the funding support of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad. The online course app aims to disseminate the latest freshwater aquaculture technologies to the aqua farmers of the country.




· Matsya Setu app has species-wise/ subject-wise self-learning online course modules, where renowned aquaculture experts explain the basic concepts and practical demonstrations on breeding, seed production and grow-out culture of commercially important fishes like carp, catfish, scampi, murrel, ornamental fish, pearl farming etc. Better Management Practices to be followed in maintaining the soil & water quality, feeding and health management in aquaculture operations were also provided in the course platform. The modules are divided into small video chapters for the convenience of the learners, along with additional learning materials. In order to motivate the learners and provide a lively learning experience, Quiz/Test options were also provided for self-assessment. Upon successful completion of each course module, an e-Certificate can be auto-generated. Farmers can also ask their doubts through the app and get specific advisories from experts.

NABARD Sanctioned Rs 388 crore for Drinking Water, Road Projects in Odisha

  • · The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned financial assistance of Rs 388 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for Odisha to set up 4 mega piped drinking water sUpply projects and 20 rural road projects across 15 districts of the state.

'Terrace Garden: Midde Thota'

  • · The Vice President, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu today received the first copy of the English translation of Shri Thummeti Raghothama Reddy's book- 'Terrace Garden: Midde Thota'.

  • · The book, originally written in Telugu, chronicles Shri Reddy's successful journey of developing a fruitful terrace garden at Naarapalle, Hyderabad. Shri Naidu commended the translator Shri Koduru Sitarama Prasad and the publisher Shri Yadlapalli Venkateswara Rao for their efforts in bringing out the book.

NCDEX Launched 2 New Agri Commodity Indices - GUAREX, SOYDEX

  • · National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), India's agricultural commodity exchange, launched India's 1st sectoral indices in agricultural commodities space such as GUAREX and SOYDEX. GUAREX and SOYDEX were also India's 1st return based agricultural futures index in agricultural commodities.

Key features:

  • · These indices will be available on the NCDEX's website to represent the performance of Guar complex and Soy complex. Futures trading in these indices will be launched later. ii. Price Tracking:

  • · GUAREX— It is the return based index, it tracks the change in the price of th futures contracts of Guar Seed and Guar Gum Refined Splits on a real-time basis.

  • · SOYDEX -r It will also trace the price changes in futures contracts of Soybean and Refined Soy Oil.

World Zoonoses Day

  • · World Zoonoses Day is annually observed across the globe on 6th July to create awareness about zoonoses or zoonotic disease, a disease of infection transmitted from vertebrate animals to humans. The day also commemorates the first vaccination administered against zoonotic disease.

  • · The National Fisheries Development Board celebrated the National Fish Farmers Day virtually.

  • · The National Fish Farmers day is observed every year to demonstrate solidarity with all fisher folk, fish farmers and concerned stakeholders throughout the Country. The day was also celebrated s NFDB Foundation Day.
